“Phoenix Rising School is hosting an art auction 1-4 p.m. Sunday, June 24 at the school in Rainier.
The event is a first-time fundraiser for the private school, which currently teaches 55 children in preschool through seventh grade.
Initially they were just going to have an afternoon tea, but the event kind of took off, said Heidi Smith, communications and outreach manager.
International artist Stephen Bennett, who has painted celebrities such as Sharon Stone and Michelle Pfeiffer, has a sister who lives in the Yelm area.”
